Academic Background
- Augusto Peixe holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Évora.
Teaching and Institutional Experience
He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Crop Science at the School of Science and Technology of the University of Évora.
He is also an integrated member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED).
Institutional Responsibilities
He is responsible for the Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Laboratory at MED.
At the University of Évora, he served as Director of the Department of Crop Science between 2015 and 2017.
He also serves as Vice-Rector for Scientific and Technological Units for the 2022–2026 term.
Research Activity
His research focuses on Plant Biotechnology.
Throughout his career, he has participated in several R&D projects, both as a coordinator and as a member of research teams.
Scientific Output and Intellectual Property
He has numerous publications in books and international peer-reviewed journals.
He holds a registered national patent and is a member of the teams responsible for two European patent applications.
Innovation and Knowledge Transfer
- He has contributed to the development of spin-off companies from the University of Évora in the field of plant biotechnology.
